Jakarta February 25th 2022 – PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA) celebrates its 65th anniversary this year. Having a long journey for years, BCA continues to bring various initiatives, banking solutions, and contribute to community development. In its latest endeavour, the bank is committed to preserving and developing the traditional art of batik. In its anniversary, the bank has produced new uniforms that are locally manufactured using batik cloths for its entire personnel.
BCA’s President Director Jahja Setiaatmadja said, “We have to collaborate with other stakeholders to encourage people to love Indonesian products, support the local economy, and MSME owners amidst the pandemic challenges. To support local business, we have worked with local batik craftsmen to produce new uniforms embedded with cultural value.”
At BCA, it has become a tradition to give all personnel new uniforms to celebrate the bank’s anniversary.
“We are proud to introduce BCA's new batik uniforms that represent our tradition, culture, and resilience of local economy and were created by skilled craftsmen. As a national private bank, we want to appear with a new look while expressing the archipelago nuance, local philosophy, and promote Indonesia’s cultural value nationally and globally," said Jahja Setiaatmadja.
Muh Zaenudin, a local batik craftsman from Pekalongan, “Batik is the culture’s eye because it is an ancestral heritage. Its production involves many people and their creative minds. The fabric is made of traditional batik and it holds a certain degree of artistic value. Hopefully, the uniforms will be useful of all BCA’s personnel, and we have done our best for them."
BCA's new batik uniforms are decorated with phoenix and clove flower motifs. The phoenixes symbolize improvement, success, and peace. The clove flowers and butterflies symbolize process or metamorphosis of life to become #LebihBaik, or better version of oneself. The uniforms were made by 35 skilled craftsmen from Tirto Village in West Pekalongan, Central Java.
Jahja Setiaatmadja said, BCA appreciated all local craftsmen who have produced great works of art for its entire personnel. "The making of batik uniform is also based on BCA's spirit to support productive activities, create job opportunities, and help MSME survive amidst the pandemic," added Jahja.
Supporting MSMEs is also part of BCA's commitment to promoting environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles and achieving the bank’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and #BCAForSustainability.
BCA batik uniforms are part of the bank’s commitment to Sustainable Development Goals, including:

BCA is further committed to promoting environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles in compliance with its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In 2021, the bank distributed Rp154.4 trillion credits to sustainable sectors, a 20.9% (yoy) growth compared to the previous year, exceeding the initial 5.5% growth target.
This initiative is also part of Bakti BCA’s Synergy Solution, the banks’ core business pillar that prioritizes corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs to support community development in the fields of culture, health, environment, and empathy.
